How to Choose Your Wedding Dress
When It comes to choosing your wedding dress, some brides are either genuinely excited or apprehensive. Don't get me wrong, you will love the experience, but you may have to try on a lot of duds to get to find the perfect one... Kind of like husbands, You may have to kiss a lot of frogs to find your prince. (LOL)
I am here to assure you that finding the perfect wedding dress can be pain-free with these excellent tips!
Start Early
This one is self-explanatory. Start early so you can have enough to find your wedding dress. Ideally, you should start shopping 9-10 months before your wedding. This will allow you to find a dress, order it, make alternations if needed and fittings. Most bridal shops can fill rush orders, but they usually charge an arm and half a leg for it.
Know your budget
Know your budget ahead of time, and DON'T TRY ON DRESSES OUTSIDE OF THAT PRICE RANGE. Wedding dresses are expensive and if you try on a dress outside of your budget and end up liking it.... well you're shit out of luck. Keep in mind, if you need alterations that will add to your price. Be sure to know your budget and stay close to it.
Embrace the feel and fit of your dress
If you try on a dress that's lovely but you don't love the feel of it. DO NOT GET IT! Be to be one with the dress. Make sure you love everything about it — for example, the beading, how it flows or the amount of puff. This will be your special day, and if you don't truly adore it, you'll most likely think of that everytime you see yourself in that dress. i.e., wedding photos.
Think about your venue
Are you having your wedding in a church? Outdoor on a mountain? On a beach? In a gorgeous local wedding venue? All of these are factors when purchasing your dress. If you are hiking up a mountain for some magnificent scenery photos or walking down the aisle on a sandy beach, I definitely don't recommend a heavy ballgown. Of course, this is just my personal opinion. You can wear whatever you want but keep this in the back of your head.
Finding the right dress doesn't have to be complicated. It should be a fun and glorious time for you. Be sure to bring your tribe and capture this experience.
XoXo,
Chelsee
